About The Position

PGL, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Co-Op Engineer - Gas Storage Engineering in our Fisher, Illinois location. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. This position will begin in May 2026 and will be full-time through the summer and fall semester. The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 with paid company holidays. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Systems Engineering & Design, and Petroleum Engineering or closely related degree with a graduation date of July 2026 or later.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Prior Internship experience
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting experience
  • Fluid or Thermal dynamics project experience
  • AutoCAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Underground gas storage – methane stored at 1750 psi 4000 ft. below surface
  • Field piping, valves, and gas storage wells
  • Station piping, valves, regulators, meters, heat exchangers, and processes
  • Withdrawal process with slug catchers, tri-ethylene glycol dehydrators, reboilers and thermal oxidizers
  • Injection process with three 5000 hp natural gas powered compressors
  • CO2 Removal process
  • LNG Liquefaction process – convert methane from gas to liquid at -260 degrees F
  • LNG Vaporization process – convert liquid LNG back to a gas
