About The Position

The Biogen Public Policy & Government Affairs (PPGA) Group works to shape the policy landscape for development and access of therapies for neurological diseases; internally, we provide subject matter expertise on policy and government relations. Within PPGA, the Government Affairs advocacy team works to shape the policy and legislative environment, when possible, or respond to particular issues when needed. We craft politically strategic advocacy plans and carry Biogen’s message to key policy makers. We cultivate relationships with key policy makers so that we can work with them to address important issues, either proactively or in response to a particular bill or issue and work closely with Biogen leadership. In collaboration with our colleagues in the functional and therapeutic areas, we provide political expertise and share our insights on Congressional and executive branch activities impacting Biogen, its customers or the patients they serve. The position entails developing a policy-maker champions program based on Biogen economic impact data and would include strategic and execution plans that would be realized through events in Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Washington, DC. The individual in this position would contribute to and organize an education campaign to be executed with the PPGA team that provides context around Biogen’s corporate contribution to its communities and customers at the federal and state legislative levels. As a result, the individual would be expected to achieve the following goals. Develop an awareness of federal and state lawmakers and their activities in the districts for which they represent. Understand how to position a corporation with policy makers based on its contributions to local economies and their value proposition to the U.S. patient population as a whole. Learn how to develop materials and narratives that speak to the federal and state policy-maker customer in order to shape policy for Biogen and the industry.
