A Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor is responsible for providing co-occurring disorder therapy to assist individuals, in accordance with their treatment plan, with substance use disorder(s) to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and educational/working environments. Core services include conducting ongoing comprehensive substance use assessments, assessing and tracking client’s stages of change readiness and stages of treatment, using outreach and motivational interviewing (MI) techniques, using cognitive behavioral approaches and relapse prevention, and applying treatment approaches consistent with clients’ stage of change readiness. Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders (ITCD): A Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor is responsible for providing co-occurring disorder therapy to assist individuals, in accordance with their treatment plan, with substance use disorder(s) to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and educational/working environments.
