About The Position

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated individuals to join the Suncoast Center community mental health services team. Since 1944 we have provided emotional wellness, trauma services, and child advocacy to individuals and families. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree required in social work, counseling, family therapy, or closely related field; may be licensed as a clinical social worker, family therapist or mental health counselor. Licensure: Licensure not required; Licensed or license eligible preferred Experience: Experiencing working with adults, children and families in need of mental health services. Experience working with adults or children in need of substance use or co-occurring services. Experience working with groups. Additional Requirements: Must be able to complete a level II background screening and pre-employment drug test in compliance with Florida Law. Must be at least 21 year of age. Must be able to provide official transcripts. Working Conditions: Work is in office. Schedule includes evenings.

Responsibilities

  • This position provides individual, group and family counseling services.
  • Provides services that are consistent with the program methodology and in conformance with all program standards. Demonstrates flexibility in support of the overall mission of the agency on a countywide basis.
  • Provides services in a manner that encourages the increase of social support and the use of natural support systems for adults, children and families.
  • Provides therapy services which are culturally component, strength based, and Solution Focused, and respond to the goals set by the individual or family needing and requesting counseling services.
  • Provides solution-focused therapy that is consistent with evidence based practiced. Uses respectful and strength-based words and actions with individuals and families. Discusses individuals and families with supervisors and peers in an appropriate manner.
  • Assists for adults, children and families in developing specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound goal planning.
  • Be able to recognize and apply interventions or appropriate referrals to address a co-occurring diagnosis.
  • Conducts Substance Treatment and Education Program (STEP) and adult substance use treatment groups on a weekly basis.
  • Completes all monthly STEP documentation.
  • Provides group therapy to adults, children and families.
  • Be able to recognize and apply interventions or appropriate referrals to address a Co-Occurring diagnosis.
  • Provides services and documentation in accordance with all 65D-30 administrative code for outpatient substance abuse services to remain in compliance with Suncoast Center’s substance abuse license.
  • Ensures the program objectives are met by completing the Diagnosis, GAF and Goal Attainment Scale scores at intake, and at six month intervals or when the individual/families discontinue services.
  • Completes all documentation in the required time frame (STEP documentation, clinical documents, reports, outcomes enrollment, discharges). Ensures that all documentation specific to Department of Children and Families outcomes is completed in the required time frame.
  • Reports all risks to supervisor and ensures that risk notes and safety plans are completed as appropriate.
  • Participates fully in bi-weekly supervision with program manager; reviews treatment techniques, case progress, and job performance.
  • Meets productivity standard of 60% which is a minimum of 100 client hours per month.
  • Remains current in the general knowledge of psychotropic medications, side-effects and DSM diagnostic criteria. Asks individual, family and manager when medical services are appropriate. Ensures that therapy is the first intervention.
  • Remains in compliance with 65D-30 (DCF substance abuse provider) training requirements for substance abuse clinician.
  • Coordinates efforts between multiple service providers when appropriate and consented to.
  • Participates in agency committees based on employee’s self interest and needs within the agency.
  • Accomplishes individual goals.
