About The Position

This Full Time CNC Turning position in Chicago - Bedford Park, IL 60638 involves highly diversified work on expensive parts. The role requires setting up tools to specifications, maintaining close tolerances and rigid finish requirements, and understanding NC/CNC machine controls to edit and modify programs if necessary. The position carries significant responsibility, as improper setup or operation could cause damage to expensive equipment (seldom over $5,000.00) or result in excess scrap damage (seldom over $5,000.00). The individual is normally responsible only for their own work, though they may occasionally assist a less experienced operator. Working conditions are somewhat disagreeable due to exposure to coolants and chips. There are unavoidable hazards such as potential for crushing fingers or toes, eye injuries, and exposure to minor lost time accidents.

Requirements

• Read and interpret complicated prints and drawings
• Use decimals, fractions, simple geometry and occasionally trigonometry
• Use large variety of precision measuring equipment such as large inside and outside micrometers, dial bore gages and height Vernier
• Equivalent to 4 years high school plus 4 years shop training
• Over 5 years on a wide variety of milling, drilling and boring work and operational exposure to machining centers
