About The Position

Load and operate Computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties: Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece Setup Lathe / Mill for next part to include: fixtures, chucks, spindle collets, sub-spindle parts, tool holders, tooling, inserts, Live-Tooling, Trunnion & rotary tables, bar feed, and programs. Loads appropriate programs via on-board memory or flash drives, confirms program is current. Verifies program and part with dry-runs to prevent crashing/damage. Measures dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining Use precision measuring instruments such as Calipers, Micrometers, Bore Gauges etc Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications Works with Set-up personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems Conducts general maintenance of the machines they are operating: Coolant, lubrication oil levels. Monitors chip/boring levels inside machine, chip conveyors, and chip depository bins. Clears obstructions as required. Counts, packs, and labels finished parts Transports finished parts over to shipping and receiving dept personnel if needed While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand Requirements To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Job Knowledge - Competent in required job skills and knowledge; exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills; requires minimal supervision; uses resources effectively.
