About The Position

JOB TITLE: CNC Programmer DEPARTMENT: Engineering REPORTING TO: Engineering Manager PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION: • Work with engineering department to Initiate, develop and maintain offline NC programs to support a fast-paced Machining operations environment. • Will be involved in process router creation, first article and in-process inspection, fixture design and programming of various CNC machines. • Responsible for completing changes to existing CNC programs and assisting with estimating or other inter-department technical requirements. • Specifies and makes provisions for tools, gauges, machines required to manufacture complex components. • Works closely with Planning, Quality, Engineering and other team members. • Creates and maintains part programs for all types of numerical control applications taking into consideration such factors as machining parameters, cutter selections and control limitations, while ensuring the design intent and component quality is achieved. • Act as a liaison between the shop floor machinists and engineering to improve setup instructions and identify efficiency improvements. • Responsible for programming various CNC Milling, Turning, Mill-Turn and EDM machines. • Must be proficient at all types of drilling, tapping, turning and milling. • Must be able to complete and support machining operations from blueprints, drawings and/or verbal instructions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 years’ experience relating to CNC machining
  • CAD experience - SolidWorks preference
  • CNC programming experience - MasterCam / EdgeCam preference

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to program up to 5 axis machining operations
  • At least 1 year of experience of CNC programming. Desire 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs tooling and fixtures to properly hold part(s) while machining.
  • Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
  • Uses CAD software to develop in-process prints from models, sketches and drawings.
  • Prepares geometric layout using computer software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.
  • Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  • Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
