About The Position

The CNC Programmer is responsible for programming advanced CNC equipment to machine high-precision components used in turbomachinery and related industrial applications. This role bridges the gap between engineering design and manufacturing execution by interpreting technical blueprints, creating efficient machining strategies, and programming high-precision parts for production on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and lathes . The role includes close collaboration with the operations team to ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturability of complex components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a CNC programmer in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of HyperMill and Fusion 360 CAM software.
  • Experience programming and operating 5-axis CNC mills and multi-function lathes .
  • Demonstrated experience machining exotic materials (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy, stainless alloys).
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T, blueprints, and 3D CAD models.
  • Understanding of cutting tool selection, feeds and speeds, and fixture design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.
  • Capable of working independently and managing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment around large rotating components.
  • Willingness to work overtime or modified shifts based on production demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work with DMG Mori machines and large turning equipment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with machining components for rotating equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models to develop CNC machining strategies.
  • Program 5-axis and multi-axis machines using HyperMill and Fusion 360.
  • Generate and maintain accurate tool paths, setup sheets, and program documentation.
  • Select tooling and recommend fixture designs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with machine operators, engineers, and quality teams to validate programs.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs as needed.
  • Support first-article inspections and assist with non-conformance resolution.
  • Recommend improvements for cycle time, surface finish, and tool life.
