About The Position

The CNC Programmer translates engineering drawings and 3D models into precise, machine-ready code (G-code/M-code) using CAM software to direct CNC machines (mills, lathes) in fabricating precision parts. They determine tooling, calculate feeds/speeds, optimize production efficiency, and troubleshoot programs to meet quality specifications.

Requirements

  • NC programming in MasterCam is required.
  • Deep understanding of metalworking, cutting tool technology, and machining processes.
  • Experience in the use of VeriCut machine simulation and verification software.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace engineering models, drawings and specifications.
  • Requires 3+ years CAD/CAM experience programming aerospace structural components manufactured from all types of metallic materials.
  • Excellent knowledge of cnc machine controls and basic G-code.
  • Strong machining background with cutting tool speeds and feeds required for aerospace metallic materials, including Titanium, Aluminum, Inconel and Cres.
  • Ability to design, program fixtures and tooling.
  • Desire to service internal and external customers.
  • Ability to handle diverse assignments from technical analysis to economic justification, to data entry.
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Equivalent Work Experience in programming and CNC Machining.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes MasterCam and VeriCut software to develop programs to control contour-path machining of metal parts on 3 through 5 axis machine tools.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to program fixtures and to develop drawings and bill of materials for the construction of tools of varying complexity and type.
  • Provide and create cnc programs, tool designs and concepts to achieve end item product build and production rate working within engineering and quality specifications.
  • Analyzes drawings, part design data and tooling methods to determine proper tool path, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates, according to knowledge of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities.
  • Ensures conformance to established procedures and quality level.
  • Work with shop floor leadership and personnel in the execution of new product development.
  • Policy and conformance to Customer Engineering and Specifications.
  • Create computerized setup documents, including all tool requirements and CNC programs.
  • Continuous improvement of Cutting methods to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Suggest changes to process or product design to simplify tooling and reduce cost.
  • Must work with Production to determine type and sequence of operations related to tooling and production operations.
  • Creates fixture setup documents and planning outlines for CNC programming.
  • Ongoing self-training to increase personal effectiveness.
  • Regularly report status of tasks and projects.
  • Maintain records to organize and report status of personal backlog, and of tasks/project.
