About The Position

Position Overview: The CNC Mazak Mill Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Mazak CNC milling machines. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient production of high-quality parts according to engineering specifications, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The operator will be responsible for reading blueprints, making precise adjustments, and ensuring machines are running optimally to meet production goals. Work Environment: Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machining tools, heavy equipment, and moving parts. Regular noise and possible exposure to coolant, lubricants, and dust. Safety protocols are strictly enforced.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or training in CNC operation is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating CNC milling machines, preferably Mazak models.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
  • Experience with Mazatrol or similar CNC programming software.
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, tolerances, and inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with basic tool selection, setup, and cutting tool materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and supervisors.
  • Problem-solving abilities and proactive attitude towards troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC programming experience (outside of basic editing) is a plus.
  • Experience with Mazak Multi-Pallet Systems and advanced Mazak features.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Mazak CNC milling machines (Vertical and Horizontal).
  • Load raw materials and ensure that the correct tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters are used for each job.
  • Select and install appropriate tools for the CNC machine, including tool changes during operations.
  • Load and run programs based on part specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings to determine machine settings and operations.
  • Edit and fine-tune CNC programs using Mazatrol, or other relevant control software, to optimize machine performance.
  • Adjust machine speeds, feeds, and tool offsets to maintain production standards.
  • Inspect parts for accuracy using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout production.
  • Work with quality control teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues with parts.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning machines, lubricating components, and checking for wear.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and make adjustments or repairs when necessary.
  • Report any major mechanical issues to the maintenance department.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine setups, production times, and quality inspections.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other team members to ensure production targets are met and any issues are promptly addressed.
  • Report on any issues regarding tool wear, material defects, or equipment malfunctions.
