About The Position

The CNC Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for CONMED’s CNC machining operations in Largo. This leader is responsible for driving machining excellence, optimizing equipment utilization, improving process capability, and ensuring high precision component manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in CNC machining, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build and advance a highly technical team in a regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in CNC machining engineering with increasing responsibility.
  • Expert understanding of CNC machining processes, multi axis programming, tooling, and high precision manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and machining validation.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM tools, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and machining analytics.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross functional influence skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical device CNC machining environment.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Cellular manufacturing Experience in robotics, lights out manufacturing.
  • Background working with tight-tolerance, high-complexity machine components.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Machining Manufacturing Engineers, CNC programmers, and technicians to advance machining capability and productivity.
  • Build technical depth in machining, programming, tooling, and process control.
  • Create a culture focused on safety, quality, discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic oversight of all CNC machining engineering activities, including capacity planning, scheduling support, and process optimization.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain to ensure stable, predictable machining performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for high precision machining, GD&T interpretation, and process capability.
  • Oversee development, optimization, and validation of CNC machining processes for new and existing products.
  • Lead tooling, fixturing, work holding, and cutting strategy improvements to reduce cycle times and tooling costs.
  • Implement and maintain robust setup documentation, PFMEAs, control plans, and machining standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop and own the CNC equipment roadmap for the site, including capability assessments, future-state planning, and equipment evaluation.
  • Lead capital equipment efforts — machine selection, justification, installation, commissioning, and validation.
  • Evaluate and implement modern machining technologies including multi axis systems, automation, probing, and digital machining tools.
  • Develop and track CNC specific KPIs including OEE, scrap, tool life, cost-per-part, cycle time performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Use data-driven decision making to drive improvement roadmaps and long-term operational stability.
