About The Position

GE Aerospace’s Flight Path Apprenticeship Program is a 9-to-12-month immersive experience combining classroom instruction at Cape Fear Community College with hands-on training in CNC machine operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. Designed for detail-oriented, mechanically inclined individuals, the program equips participants with industry-recognized certifications, technical expertise, and the skills needed to thrive in manufacturing. Upon successful completion, apprentices transition into CNC Machinist roles, contributing to the production of high-quality aerospace components while advancing their careers with a global leader in aerospace technology. This immersive program is designed to equip aspiring professionals with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to thrive in the dynamic world of manufacturing. As a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you'll embark on a 9-to-12-month journey that combines classroom instruction at Cape Fear Community College with rotational, on-the-job training at GE Aerospace. Under the mentorship of seasoned professionals, you'll master the art of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting CNC machines—critical tools in the production of high-quality aerospace components. This program is more than just training; it's a launchpad for your career. You'll gain industry-recognized certifications, develop expertise in machine setup and calibration, and learn to interpret technical drawings—all while contributing to GE Aerospace's unwavering commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. using proper ergonomic procedures.
  • Be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with manual machining tools.
  • Exposure to band saws, drill presses, and hand tools.
  • Vo-tech training or coursework in machining, welding, auto mechanics, or electrical work.
  • Autonomous problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
