Recent shop upgrades have reduced set‑up times and allow machinists to focus on quality work rather than working around outdated equipment. Fillauer is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We are looking for a CNC Machinist for our Chattanooga, TN facility. This individual will setup and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate both metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience as CNC Machinist.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals or groups.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions and strong problem solving capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in a medium to large plant.

Responsibilities

  • Determine dimensions/tolerances of finished parts and setup requirements based on blueprints, sketch drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts.
  • Measure dimensions and reference points for First Article approvals and In-process inspection.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.).
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors (speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut).
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunction or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting controls or media as required.
