This position is for a CNC Machine Operator at ContiTech USA, LLC in Valparaiso, Indiana, which proudly supports the trades with its Registered Apprenticeship Program for emerging Machinists. The role involves operating CNC machining equipment, maintaining machines, and ensuring a clean and safe workstation. Safety is the highest priority, and procedures/guidelines, including personal protective equipment, must be adhered to. This is a 3rd shift position, working 11:00pm - 7:00am, with overtime as needed. The job is within a climate-controlled environment, and you will be exposed to forklifts, pedestrian traffic, and moderate noise. The role involves various physical tasks, including lifting and operating machinery, with comprehensive training provided.

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant CNC machining experience (for CNC Machine Operator 1).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant CNC machining experience (for CNC Machine Operator 2).
  • Intermediate maintenance experience (for CNC Machine Operator 2).
  • Ability to perform tasks outside of department (for CNC Machine Operator 2).
  • Intermediate experience working with steel and aluminum, hoist operation, measurement capabilities, blueprint reading, machine programming, and basic safety procedures (for CNC Machine Operator 2).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant CNC machining experience (for CNC Machinist 1).
  • Advanced experience working with steel and aluminum, hoist operation, measurement capabilities, blueprint reading, machine programming, and basic safety procedures (for CNC Machinist 1).
  • CMM experience (for CNC Machinist 1).
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant CNC machining experience (for CNC Machinist 2).
  • Advanced maintenance experience (for CNC Machinist 2).
  • Expert level experience working with steel and aluminum, hoist operation, measurement capabilities, blueprint reading, machine programming, and basic safety procedures (for CNC Machinist 2).

Responsibilities

  • Operating CNC machining equipment following a production schedule.
  • Accurately labeling parts.
  • Stamping parts as needed.
  • Moving finished parts to the proper areas.
  • Keeping the machine filled with coolant.
  • Ensuring that refractometer readings are within acceptable levels.
  • Monitoring and filling the way oil reservoir.
  • Maintaining a clean workstation adhering to 5S standards.
  • Programming and machining new fixtures.
  • Training new employees.
  • Programming and machining prototype parts and new jobs.
