About The Position

The Machine Shop Technician I work under the guidance and supervision of the Machining Supervisor to support day-to-day machine shop operations. This entry-level role focuses on developing core machining skills, maintaining shop cleanliness, and assisting with material preparation. The Technician I is expected to adhere to Fibreworks Composites (FWC) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and company policies while actively supporting a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or vocational school equivalent (required).
1–2 years of machining experience preferred but not required.
Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
Strong math and mechanical aptitude.
Eagerness to learn and perform precision work.
Ability to read and follow written instructions from work instruction sheets.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn to interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Strong attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
Demonstrated reliability with exemplary attendance.
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and completing demands
Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Nice To Haves

Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts is a plus.

Responsibilities

Cut various types of materials using manual machines such as band saws, planers, table saws, skill saws, and jointers.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical devices.
Assist in the bonding and gluing of materials in accordance with multiple FWC SOPs.
Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner (upon certification).
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety practices.
Maintain and organize stock materials, tools, and tooling to support workflow.
Communicate inventory needs to the Administrator for timely restocking.
Perform routine shop upkeep, including machine cleaning, coolant level checks (using a refractometer), and general housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, dusting).
Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned
