About The Position

Horton, Inc. has an opening for a CNC Machine Operator to work in their Westminster, SC location. This is a 1st shift position with standard work hours Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 5:30pm. The position involves loading materials and castings into machines and operating machine tools to produce finished parts that conform to proper dimensions, inspecting work and performing basic setting/adjusting of the machine to maintain products within specified tolerances. Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Good communication skills is a must.
  • Ability to work well in a group and individually.
  • Previous manufacturing experience with set-up, operation, and adjusting CNC turning centers is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow instructions on routings and work instructions for each job.
  • Perform basic CNC job setups.
  • Complete all departmental paperwork, such as routings, assembly tickets, production status sheets and daily checklists.
  • Perform frequent quality checks.
  • May be required to use quality inspection tools such as gauges, micrometers and/or calipers.
  • Obtain first piece and last piece buyoff from the Quality department.
  • Relay all information about current job to oncoming shift.
  • Maintain production rate on each job.
  • Operates one or more machine tools to produce high quality parts in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Changes tool offsets and tooling inserts in order to achieve the proper dimensions of finished parts.
  • Exhibits and performs basic personal computer functions in various software systems.
  • Performs daily and weekly routine machine maintenance in a manner which conserves resources and keeps the machines as productive as possible.
  • Verifies quality specifications by measuring completed component/product.
  • Moves between workstations in order to learn new machine operations and to provide flexibility in meeting production needs.
  • May be required to fill in as Operator in other departments as directed/rotated.
  • Provides training in work methods, procedures, and work instructions to other employees.
  • Practice 6S and always maintain clean and safe work areas.
