About The Position

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated CNC Machine Operator to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Requirements

  • Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. high school diploma/GED).
  • Proficient in the use of computers and equipment utilizing computer technology in the fabrication of aircraft parts.
  • Be teachable and open minded.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Willing to learn and share knowledge.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Exercise good judgement.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances is required.
  • Must be a US Person.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (i.e., apprenticeship or trade school).
  • Ability to program machine, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part program. Make proper installations and adjustments.
  • Manual machining training / experience.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, which utilize ASME, Y 14.5 M.
  • Conceptual skills; Process Improvement.
  • Experienced in FAA manufacture and associated paperwork.
  • Controls and Instrumentation.
  • Supply Management; Inventory Control.
  • Tooling; Coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Machining work via work orders, engineering drawings, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plan and expedites orders for stock and verifies receipt.
  • Set up machine, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, cutter compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part program. Make proper installations and adjustments.
  • Measure positions with first-run part, and sampling of work pieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions.
  • Troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance requirements - follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs in designated production and quality logs.
  • Follow engineering planning, and accurately fill out and complete work orders.
  • Support company Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention Program.
  • Successfully completes training as required to maintain efficiency on the job.
  • Compliance with good housekeeping, quality, FOD, and safety procedures.
  • Support other Aurora Flight Sciences sites as required.
  • Performs other tasks as required by site leadership.
