The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to engineering blueprints and specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding machining principles.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills
  • Detail oriented

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or trade school training preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machines (HAAS SL-30, HAAS TL-3, Samsung SL25004 and/or Hurco VM20i a plus, or similar controls)
  • Basic understanding of G-code and machine programming concepts (a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, routers, grinders) according to job orders and engineering drawings.
  • Load raw materials and verify correct tooling, fixtures, and offsets.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.
  • Monitor machine operations, make adjustments, and perform tool changes as needed.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including setup sheets and quality documentation.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and workplace guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and quality control personnel to resolve production issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes and reduce waste.
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
