About The Position

The CNC Applications Specialist is responsible for identifying machining improvement opportunities and developing solutions that enhance process quality, reduce cycle times, support revision changes, and improve set‑up repeatability and cell flexibility. This role also assists in training operators and set‑up personnel within the assigned areas. DUTIES: Exhibit active leadership that models and supports the company’s vision and strategies. Provide and promote a safe work environment by following all safety programs and policies throughout the facility. Partner with team leaders and departments to continuously analyze and ensure CNC machining, robotics, and fabrication processes meet customer and company quality standards. Work closely with Applications/Robotics, Tooling, Quality, Engineering, and Account Services teams to support process development, troubleshooting, and communication of changes. Develop, implement, and approve CNC machining programs and processes for specialized CNC equipment (Handtmann, MMC, CNC Bender, etc.). Assist with first‑time part process set‑ups. Complete set‑up sheets, document machine cycles, and document set‑up instructions. Keep CAM files updated with current machine programs. Maintain accuracy of CAM and CAD files. Work with Quality Assurance Technicians to establish and refine inspection methods. Approve process capability and ensure processes meet customer specifications. Develop flexible, repeatable set‑ups that support consistent production. Collaborate with the Tooling department and machine improvement technicians to identify and implement solutions for CNC machining issues. Complete revision changes to CNC machining processes, including programming part revisions and coordinating with Tooling and the Machine Shop. Analyze tool life and identify quality improvement opportunities. Partner with the Applications group on cutting tool testing and with the Tooling group on tooling improvements. Assist in developing and monitoring set‑up times and researching new methods to reduce set‑up duration.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology required , or 5+ years of CNC set‑up/programming experience with internal training to be completed after hire
  • 5+ years of CNC machine set‑up and programming experience preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience desired
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Proficiency with programming software such as CAD, SolidCAM, SurfCAM, and OPUS
  • Strong blueprint reading skills with solid understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to use appropriate inspection equipment
  • Knowledge of: Brown & Sharpe CMM Makino MMC software and MMC concepts Robotic concepts and robotic programming 5‑axis machining CNC machine capabilities Manual programming
  • Ability to recognize and act on safety concerns
  • Strong coordination, judgment, and advanced math skills
  • Effective teamwork and communication abilities
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to multi‑task

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MMC, robotics, and 5‑axis machining desired
