Texas A&M University is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented laboratory animal care professional for a hands-on supervisory role. This individual will be committed to excellence in animal welfare, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should have several years of experience in large laboratory animal care, including dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, goats, and other ruminants. Strong supervisory, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to balance staff oversight with daily animal husbandry and facility operations. The role requires comfort working indoors with large animals in confined spaces. This individual will work independently, collaborate effectively with researchers and regulatory bodies, and maintain high standards across conventional, SPF, biohazard, and barrier facilities, ensuring compliance with AAALAC standards, institutional policies, and all applicable regulations. The Comparative Medicine Program (CMP) at Texas A&M enhances research and teaching through high-quality animal care, providing services such as animal procurement, veterinary care, surgical facilities, antibody production, technical support, and animal use training.
