CMM Programmer

Boom SupersonicCentennial, CO
1d$109,000 - $137,000

About The Position

We’re building Superpower — an industrial gas turbine designed to power the next wave of AI infrastructure. It’s ambitious, fast-moving, and hardware-heavy. Superpower is built from high-consequence hardware — precision castings, machined turbomachinery, complex assemblies — and quality is what turns design intent into engine reality. At Boom, quality isn’t a back-end function — it’s a force multiplier. As we stand up and scale our internal manufacturing capability, we need a CMM Programmer who can bridge inspection and engineering. Someone who can program and run CMMs, build inspection plans from first principles, generate audit-ready reports, and help define the metrology capability required to support a production engine program.

Requirements

  • Strong experience programming and operating CMMs (Verisurf, PC-DMIS, Calypso, or Zeiss a plus)
  • Fluent in GD&T, blueprint reading, and CAD model interpretation per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience inspecting tight-tolerance aerospace or high-precision machined components
  • Comfortable building inspection plans, generating first-article and final inspection reports, and supporting AS9100 documentation
  • Able to identify inspection capability gaps and help specify and procure new metrology equipment
  • Hands-on background in machining, fabrication, or shop-floor manufacturing environments
  • Comfortable using standard metrology tools — micrometers, indicators, height gages, surface plates
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
  • Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing or certifying inspection processes in AS9100 or NADCAP environments
  • Experience standing up or scaling internal metrology labs
  • Deep understanding of inspection strategy for castings, machined components, or turbomachinery hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to move from “we should inspect this” to a fully implemented, production-ready inspection workflow
  • A mindset that sees quality as a competitive advantage — not a compliance exercise
  • Familiar with special process inspection levels (e.g., X-Ray, FPI, Casting, etc) and understands process ownership

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate CMMs for first-article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Create and debug inspection routines directly from 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings
  • Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to real-world aerospace hardware
  • Develop inspection plans and methods for fabricated and machined components
  • Generate clear, audit-ready inspection reports and support customer-facing quality documentation
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with machinists and manufacturing engineers to resolve nonconformances and improve part quality
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions tied to dimensional or process escapes
  • Identify gaps in inspection capability and help specify, procure, and commission new metrology equipment
  • Help stand up and refine in-process and final inspection workflows as we scale production
  • Maintain calibration and readiness of CMMs and other metrology equipment

Benefits

  • long term incentives/equity
  • a flexible PTO policy
  • many other progressive benefits
