About The Position

Our client is a financial institution providing the United States with a safe, flexible, and stable monetary system. They are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in AWS GovCloud to support the design, build, and operation of a secure cloud-based examination tool. This role partners closely with cloud platform and application development teams to enable scalable, compliant, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure in a highly regulated environment. This role is onsite in Washington, DC, and, per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens and be able to pass the background check.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years supporting cloud platforms; 10+ years total technology experience, including application development (senior level).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud or AWS in regulated government environments.
  • Proficiency in Python or PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform); Python 3.x data engineering preferred.
  • Strong experience with DevOps/DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and containerized deployments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture, networking, load balancing, storage, APIs, and RESTful services.
  • Experience with cloud security, identity/federation (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect), and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA).
  • Ability to optimize cloud environments for performance, cost efficiency, and security.
  • Per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens and be able to pass the background check.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support secure cloud infrastructure and applications across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
  • Collaborate with cloud platform and application teams using Agile/DevOps SDLC methodologies.
  • Modernize and migrate legacy systems into cloud-ready, cloud-native architectures.
  • Implement DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
  • Configure and manage AWS services, including networking, compute, storage, security, and load balancing.
  • Implement cloud identity and federation solutions (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
  • Monitor, optimize, and secure cloud environments with a focus on performance, cost efficiency, and compliance in high-security environments.
