Role and Responsibilities This role includes a variety of critical actions to ensure the seamless operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of the APEIS IT infrastructure. Tasks in this area include, but are not limited to: Work with Federal IT Lead coordination to implement, configure, and maintain multiple operating systems (such as Windows and Linux) on the APEIS infrastructure. It involves monitoring system performance, managing system upgrades, and addressing security issues. System administration involves managing user accounts, access permissions, and system resources to maintain data integrity and continuous operation of IT systems. In addition, backup and disaster recovery procedures must be implemented, as well as system logs and documentation kept current. Architecture: Creating effective and scalable IT architecture to accommodate changing business requirements. This includes analyzing and recommending new technologies, planning capacity, and working with Federal IT lead to ensure that goals are met. Technical Support Services: Provide quick and effective support to end-users, troubleshoot, and resolve technical difficulties, and ensure customer satisfaction. This involves documenting typical difficulties, guiding users, and working with other IT teams to identify areas for improvement. Compliance and Security: Maintain secure system settings, apply security updates, and conduct weekly vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with industry legislation, security standards, and internal DOT policies. Develop and implement automation technologies to streamline routine activities, decrease errors, and increase productivity across APEIS systems and processes. Cloud Management: Facilitating the adoption and integration of cloud-based services for the APEIS Infrastructure using Azure Cloud Platform. This includes managing cloud resources, protecting data, and optimizing cloud architecture for cost-effectiveness and scalability. Also, ensures that the APEIS Infrastructure on the Azure Cloud Platform meets the Authority to Operate (ATO) standards. This involves: i) Continuous monitoring. ii) Collaboration: Working with security and compliance teams to address vulnerabilities. iii) Conduct weekly scan reviews and prepare audit reviews quarterly. Integration of APEIS with the BTS enterprise system (Transportation Data Platform) Manage version control documents and standard operating procedures, including system architecture, flow charts, software, and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
  • 8 years of experience in information systems development, functional and data requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, programming, program design and documentation preparation.
  • A minimum of 5 years specialized experience is required in the following: demonstrated experience in managing the implementation of information engineering projects and experience in systems analysis, design and programming.
  • A cloud systems engineer must have programmatic technical expertise based upon the Cloud platform service provided.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of specialized experience on top of applicable training. 5 years or more of relevant experience is required where the individual does not also substantiate relevant training.
