About The Position

We're looking to bring on board a Clinician to provide clinical assessments and treatment interventions with children and families within the Alternative Options/DYS Program, whose mission is to strengthen, expand and integrate a comprehensive system of community-based, culturally competent behavioral health and complementary services for children with serious emotional and behavioral health needs and their families. The Clinician will work in tandem with outreach caseworkers and peer mentors using designated clinical treatment models. The Clinician will coordinate collaterals at meetings or via phone so that all parties working with a child/family are working together towards the same goals.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • License Eligible
  • Experience working in Social Services, Human Services, Mental Health with children, and/or families.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative, analytical, and decisive in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated communications, administrative and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community agencies: School Dept., DCF, DMH, etc.
  • Understanding/willingness to be part of a Program that supports youth and families 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
  • Must have a drivers license and availability of vehicles to support Program needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with diversified Residential Counselors is preferred.
  • Working with children/families with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) who require behavior management to address mental health needs to be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides in-home clinical services and interventions to identified youth and their families in their homes; working in unison with outreach paraprofessionals, peer mentors and other members of the Continuum team to help the child/family achieve their goals.
  • Develop positive working relationships with contracted residential providers and their clinical teams; DMH/DCF personnel; and educational personnel.
  • Provides clinical and safety assessments as required.
  • Coordinates collaterals via regularly scheduled/emergency meetings or telephone to ensure goals of the child/family are met.
  • Works with outreach paraprofessionals and peer mentors to develop Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP) pursuant to the DMH/DCF Rehab Options Standards.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are adhered for Progress Notes, Individual Treatment.
  • Ensures support and crisis/emergency services for the youth/family.
  • Expected to do face-to-face contacts, phone contacts and be part of an on-call system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Directors.
  • Plans, Service Notes, Safety Plans, etc.
