Forestdale’s Strong Mothers Program helps mothers plan for a better future by making wise choices in parenting and sexual health. A sample of core services includes: parenting skills training to foster nurturing and secure attachment; counseling to help women find stable living environments (88% of our young women experience domestic violence); doula matching to help women with prenatal, labor, and post-natal support; and access to material resources for food and clothing. The program’s Clinical Supervisor enhances these behavioral health services by leading the provision of interventions to program participants who exhibit a history of trauma. S/he works with our current Strong Mothers staff to enhance our group education sessions curricula with more information on domestic violence, anger management, and trauma. The person in this role will use a participant-centered, trauma-informed approach to delivering care. S/he will also ensure agency standards of practice are upheld via clinical practice, crisis management, documentation/record-keeping, staff education, and government mandates.
