About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor provides direct clinical supervision to assigned counseling staff and oversees the quality, direction, and effectiveness of therapeutic services within an opioid treatment program and outpatient counseling setting. This role ensures that treatment plans address substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, psychosocial factors, and medical needs. The Clinical Supervisor determines appropriate treatment modalities and levels of care at admission, ensures continuity of care, and assumes the responsibilities of the Director of Clinical Services in their absence. This position also maintains a caseload, providing individual, family, and crisis intervention services as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed in New Jersey as an LCADC & CCS required
  • Qualified as a clinical supervisor under NJ Alcohol and Drug Counselor Regulations (N.J.S.A. 45:2D-1 et seq.)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a substance abuse treatment program
  • Minimum 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or human services experience
  • Strong knowledge of co-occurring disorders and psychotropic substances
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills
  • Must pass Physical & Drug Screening (including THC)
  • Must pass Criminal Record History Clearance, FBI, and Child Abuse Clearances
  • Must meet physical requirements (sitting, standing, lifting, driving, climbing stairs)
  • Must maintain active licensure and complete required continuing education

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide clinical oversight to counseling staff
  • Assign caseloads and manage staff scheduling
  • Review and approve assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Provide staff training, mentorship, and regular supervision conferences
  • Support staff in crisis intervention and complex case management
  • Ensure coordination and integration of clinical services across departments
  • Lead youth-focused initiatives, school partnerships, and family engagement efforts (Region 7 community engagement)
  • Oversee admissions, discharge planning, and continuity of care processes
  • Ensure treatment plans address substance use, mental health, psychosocial, and medical needs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Act as liaison with community agencies and represent the program externally
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and NJ state regulations
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and ethical practice
  • Monitor quality improvement initiatives and statistical reporting
  • Assist with staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development
  • Evaluate client financial eligibility and oversee related documentation
