About The Position

The position as part of the program leadership will work in partnership with the Program Manager to provide leadership, support, and oversight for all elements of the clinical service and oversight of the clinical staffing roles, including hiring, training, skills development, coaching, and enforcement of program rules. The position ensures adherence to all program and agency policies and procedures and collaborates with the Program Manager in developing and delivering high-quality client care in accordance with Horizon Services standards and applicable federal, state, and county regulations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of effective, evidence-based interventions with co-occurring, multi-cultural, low-income populations
  • 2+ years of experience working in drug/alcohol treatment services, preferably at withdrawal management or residential level of care.
  • Completion of MA or MS in Clinical Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
  • Clinical License (MFT, LPCC, LCSW, or related license) or completed hours and license eligible
  • CPR/First Aid certification or completion within 6 months of hire
  • Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and car insurance
  • Must be able to stay awake and alert during the shift. Sleeping on the job is not permitted
  • Must be able to physically assist clients in their efforts to exit the facility in case of emergency
  • Must be able to physically assist clients who are undergoing seizures or other major withdrawal symptoms, to include ambulatory escort to a medical facility if necessary
  • Must be able to drive a passenger van and have a valid California driver's License
  • Must be able to use a standard telephone, transfer calls, take & relay messages.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources related to mental health, substance abuse, health, dental, finances, case management, and housing
  • Ability to effectively utilize verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to train supervisees and other program staff in verbal de-escalation techniques effectively
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with clinical staff to assess, prioritize, and plan case management referrals and facilitate connecting to care, as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with outside organizations to connect clients to the care they need, as needed
  • Ability to function as a team member and cooperate with other staff and agencies
  • Ability to listen to others and to act decisively on information received

Nice To Haves

  • Meets BBS standards to provide clinical supervision to supervisees and sign clinical hours for BBS
  • 2+ years of experience training staff on a variety of skills, including (but not limited to) verbal de-escalation, group milieu management/therapy, and clinical skills
  • 2+ years of experience engaging clients in group-based activities and providing positive programming for clients
  • 2+ years of experience providing crisis intervention services in mental health treatment and/or drug and alcohol treatment facilities
  • 1+ years of experience managing budgetary needs and expenses

Responsibilities

  • People Management- train and develop a high-performing team
  • Client Care- ensure a high level of services to clients
  • QA & Compliance- follows and adheres to program policies and mandated regulations as driven by Federal, State, and County contracts.
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring supervised positions in coordination with the Program Manager.
  • Support in providing new hire orientation and training for all supervisors
  • Provide ongoing feedback to supervisees through individual clinical supervision meetings and clinical group supervision meetings
  • Support Program Manager in the development of ROADs and professional development processes for supervisees.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with the employee and position handbooks for supervises
  • Serve as designated LPHA (Licensed Practitioner of Healing Arts) for assigned DMC-ODS funded program(s)
  • Provide on-call consultation and support for supervisees during non-standard work hours
  • Ensure quality care for residents/beneficiaries consistent with regulatory standards and program policies, and assist in the improvement of services as needed
  • Provide crisis support, intervention, and de-escalation of conflict as needed
  • Ensure orientation is provided for all new residents/beneficiaries within the required time frame
  • Develop knowledge of community resources related to such as health, mental health, finances, case management, and housing; Consult with clinical staff to support their assessment, prioritization, and planned case management referrals and facilitate connecting to off-site resources and care.
  • Assist residents/beneficiaries to access outside services, as needed/assigned
  • Provide periodic inspection of grounds and facility to assure security and safety
  • Monitor residents/beneficiaries to ensure appropriate supervision and knowledge of residents/beneficiaries and activities
  • Facilitate conflict resolution meetings with staff and residents/beneficiaries as needed
  • Punctuality and attendance to perform duties as scheduled
  • Comply and enforce HSI’s policies and procedures
  • Enforce/reinforce policies and procedures of the programs and assist in creation of updated policies and procedures
  • Facilitate regular individual meetings and group meetings with supervisees, and team meetings as assigned
