Requirements

Must have a Florida State License and AND Registration
acute care experience required

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility and accountability for managing the clinical dietetics portion of the department, such as nutrition assessment/reassessment, nutrition counseling/education, revising of enteral formula, modified diet formulation, as well as performance improvement projects designated per director and education functions necessary to provide quality nutrition care to patients.
Also responsible for integrating clinical dietetics into food services to ensure a cohesive that all team members have at least an individualized basic knowledge of nutrition as it relates to patient care and that all clinical systems within the department are well integrated.
Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead.
Verbalizes stroke alert process.
Assess nutritional status to include potential for dehydration due to reluctance to drink fluids/fear of choking, dysphagia, inappropriate food consistency for assess condition, increased risk of respiratory complications, enteral nutrition needs and provide patient/family education on special diets.
Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 1 hour online training.
