About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Training Specialist is responsible for delivering training on the Electronic Health Record (EHR), clinical software applications, and related medical technology to providers, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff. This role focuses on workflow-based Training, system optimization, and adoption support, ensuring that users are confident and proficient in leveraging digital tools to deliver safe, efficient patient care. This position emphasizes technical system expertise, workflow alignment, and end-user support, often collaborating directly with informatics and IT teams.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or High school + relevant experience, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Education in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Education, or related field OR equivalent healthcare IT training experience
  • 2–3+ years of experience in healthcare IT, clinical applications training, or EHR superuser role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one major EHR platform (Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, Meditech).
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common Training tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with change management principles and techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Vendor credentialing
  • CompTIA CTT+, ATD Instructional Design Certification, or equivalent adult learning credential.
  • Experience with simulation-based learning or clinical workflow optimization.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and reporting.
  • Background in project management, change management, or healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, small group, virtual, and at-the-elbow training sessions on EHR and clinical applications.
  • Support system go-lives, upgrades, and optimizations through direct end-user engagement.
  • Provide role-based training for physicians, nurses, allied health, and support staff.
  • Collaborate with clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) to design effective training curricula.
  • Develop eLearning modules, quick guides, tip sheets, and workflow-specific reference materials.
  • Update training resources as systems, policies, or workflows evolve.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the EHR and integrated applications.
  • Demonstrate and train on system features including order entry, documentation, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with IT and informatics to ensure workflows are represented accurately in training.
  • Provide on-site and virtual support during go-lives, upgrades, and new technology implementations.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical users and technical teams to capture feedback and escalate issues.
  • Promote adoption of new functionality by reinforcing best practices and efficiency tools.
  • Ensure training supports compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, CMS, and organizational policies.
  • Reinforce standards for data accuracy and integrity in the EHR.
  • Contribute to post-training evaluation and continuous improvement processes.
