Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Care, Business or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience working in a health care field or training related to computer applications.
  • Skill using computers and office equipment.
  • Skill organizing and prioritizing work.
  • Skill with verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of software, hardware and clinical information support functions.
  • Basic knowledge of Project Management.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of health care end users to provide support and training.
  • Ability to support, analyze, define and resolve user application and process issues/concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to balance change and continually strive to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to participate in problem-solving activities, task assignments and demonstrate consistent results.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage concurrent activities.

Nice To Haves

  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates/enhances/maintains the user experience for the clinical information systems.
  • Provides one on one support for users.
  • Identify root cause of system/workflow issue and prioritize critical issues.
  • Supports end users during new application/code implementation.
  • Ensures data privacy, confidentiality and security.
  • Acts as a liaison between end users and IT.
  • Evaluates end user interaction with computer hardware and use of applications.
  • Assesses proposed system changes.
  • Conducts and analyzes audits of system output to identity end user compliance/utilization.
  • Communication/collaboration with all Health System affiliates to ensure integration.
  • Facilitates Informatics Councils for system change input/analysis.
  • Designs data to be retrievable.
  • Evaluate data elements to enhance safety and drive compliance.
  • Develops/maintains/evaluates downtime procedures.
  • Utilizes Cerner analytics reports to objectively evaluate user experience.
  • Identifies/analyzes decision support as applicable.
  • Contributes to meeting Magnet Empirical Outcomes with innovative system design.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates with IT to maintain existing system via change requests.
  • Collects specifications for changes from end user.
  • Uses Evidence based practice to guide innovative change requests.
  • Evaluates specifications for new design to be compliant with policy.
  • Prepares/maintains change source documents in accordance with auditor requirements.
  • Processes change requests to IT via established procedures.
  • Provide regular updates during project phases.
  • Provides training upon completion of work.
  • Implements requested change.
  • Ensures standardization across facilities.
  • Responsible for periodic review and updating in compliance with policy.
  • Designs access during downtime.
  • Ensures utilization of standard nomenclature where applicable.
  • Participates as a member of a project team for implementation of new/upgrade of applications.
  • Leads/co-leads project design/development teams independently.
  • Documents current state workflow to assist in planning and design of system.
  • Works independently on assigned tasks.
  • Completes assigned tasks according to established timeline.
  • Delegating tasks as applicable.
  • Identifies project obstacles and assists in leading to resolution.
  • Serves as a resource for integration and standardization of new applications with current applications.
  • Conducts clinical application training for clinical staff, new employees and medical staff.
  • Develops and delivers training plan and materials for new applications.
  • Ensures new employee training curriculum is regularly reviewed/updated to incorporate changes to application.
  • Develops Computer Based Training Modules.
  • Test applications to assure functionality.
  • Ensures adequate testing of new application/code for all user positions.
  • Develops and updates test scripts.
  • Maintains and utilizes knowledge of national trends to enhance informatics practice.
  • Conducts/participates in hosted site visits or reference calls.
  • Maintains/updates knowledge in Cerner applications by regular use of uCern.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities related to Healthcare IT.
  • Networks with other facilities using similar software/application.
  • Participates in evening/night/weekend call rotation.
  • Mentors new team members
