The Clinical Informatics Programmer is responsible for the development and maintenance of new software and databases to support clinical quality initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in informatics.
  • Experience with MS Access and/or client-server relational database management systems (RDBMS) (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
  • Experience with database import procedures and reporting procedures.
  • Experience with healthcare terminology, operations, regulations, and quality metrics.
  • Experience with Epic EMR systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, also stooping, bending, standing, and stretching.
  • Must have manual dexterity for typing and computer data entry.
  • Able to work under a stressful environment, work independently, capable of making sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs., carry and lift up to 20lbs.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with analytics software and procedures (e.g. SAS, R, S+, SPSS, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software/database requirement documents for quality initiatives identified by senior leadership.
  • Perform database import from multiple data sources, including historical data, spreadsheets, EMR queries and other databases in varied formats.
  • Create database input user-interfaces and reporting software, including interfaces to MS Excel.
  • Collaborate with clinical quality professionals to support clinical aspects of quality initiatives.
  • Continually broaden skills in clinical quality review to complement IT aspects of role.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the information technology department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
