About The Position

Designs, develops, and implements educational training programs which support the successful adoption of the electronic health record and associated health information technology applications and critical components into the patient care process. Researches, organizes information, writes, and monitors program preparation to oversee instructional materials (instructor and trainee guides, graphics, tutorials, references, tests, etc.) and resources are deliverable in scope and on schedule. Designs, develops, and maintains complex training environment and training patient technical requirements, as well as develops and evaluates competency of all trainers in areas responsible, to support successful learning. Evaluates training effectiveness and collaborates with other project teams to modify training programs accordingly. Collaborates with informatics across the system to optimize resources, share expertise and improve programming across multiple sites. Develops training using best-practice instructional methods and techniques (e.g., self-paced, group-paced, media, virtual, online) appropriate to the situation and learner’s development level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn and culture. Maintains core knowledge of key patient care practices (admission, assessment, medication distribution, etc.). Develops and delivers training sessions that align with adult learning principles and cater to diverse learning styles while maintaining organizational best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Education, Business or Healthcare related field.
  • Must obtain within 18 months and maintain annual educational requirements for Epic certification(s) or accreditation(s) as required by department.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical informatics, clinical education, a relevant clinical role, or as a credentialed EHR trainer. This experience should include the ability to develop and provide subject matter expertise in collaboration with others on projects related to the development, education, optimization, and utilization of the electronic health record
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching methods to maximize learning
  • Good written and oral communication skills including strong presentation/speaking skills
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate to ensure knowledge transfer
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Knowledge of educational software and online learning techniques
