2026 -2027 Clinical Fellow Speech Language Pathologist (Intern) @ Special Education Internal employees: Set to your account to internal before applying at https://aisd.schoolspring.com/internaljobsettings Primary Purpose: Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with a variety of communication disorders. Evaluate students and provide therapy to eliminate or reduce impairments which impact the students’ ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathology intern granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment tools
  • Knowledge of therapy strategies to address a variety of communication disorders
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement strategies to address student behavior
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with others and have strong organizational skills
  • Able to meet timelines

Nice To Haves

  • An externship experience in a school setting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Therapy Conduct evaluations under supervision to assess students with speech or language disorders and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Evaluate student progress and make determinations regarding therapy services based on consistent data collection.
  • Conduct re-evaluations under supervision of identified students in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings.
  • Assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions according to district procedures.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans for students as determined by the ARD/IEP Committee.
  • Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements.
  • Consultation Consult with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals, the needs of the student, and involvement in remedial process.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities and assistive technology to improve communication skills of students.
  • Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and work more effectively with students with communication deficits.
  • Provide information and support to parents when appropriate.
  • Interact with other agencies when appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource to the campus staff in the area of communication speech and collaborate with classroom teachers to implement effective services for student.
  • Student Management Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students.
  • Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Program Management Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make changes based on the findings.
  • Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
  • Enter and maintain all digital reports, records, and other required documents including Texas licensure required for Medicaid and SHARS billing within the limits of your license and within required timelines.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
  • Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  • Other Attend all meetings as directed by the speech coordinator.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
