The Clinical Educator PRN designs and implements high-quality educational programs, activities, or projects for staff at all career stages, applying adult learning principles, evidence-based interventions, and regulatory requirements. This role involves evaluating and modifying training curriculum, assisting in competency assessment, supporting various educational offerings, and maintaining documentation. The educator also participates in clinical practice observation, health care system committees, and oversees Organizational Development priorities, serving as an influential leader for interprofessional learning and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Education: ADN
  • Current NC or multi-state RN license
  • ACLS instructor
  • CPR instructor
  • Seven years in critical care area
  • Experience as preceptor
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment and resources
  • Word, graphics
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving are required to be successful
  • Organizational skills are a must
  • Must be able to communicate with other departments and staff in an articulate manner

Nice To Haves

  • BSN (preferred)
  • Two specialty areas; experience as preceptor (preferred)
  • Educational design or teaching experience(preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements high quality educational programs, activities, or projects, including job-aids, self-studies, classroom curriculum and evaluation materials for staff at all stages of their career.
  • Applies adult learning principles, evidence-based interventions, standards of care, regulatory requirements, and various teaching-learning strategies to the selection of education content, techniques, and materials.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to interact and communicate with a variety of audiences through verbal, written, presentation, and teaching methods.
  • Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of education/training opportunities ensuring outcomes of the training content meet learning objectives and goals. Modifies training curriculum as necessary.
  • Assists in the evaluation, assessment and mentoring of clinical staff as a part of initial or annual competency assessment where required.
  • Ensures all training supplies are ready and available to meet training objective as designed.
  • Actively supports and assists with Equipment, Vendor, and Unit based educational offerings. (ex. new equipment, new process design)
  • Completes documentation and record keeping for educational opportunities according to department policy and standard work.
  • Participates in the observation of clinical practice to validate, review and/or update educational content in support of the onboarding, training, and competency efforts of the organization.
  • Actively participates on health care system committees providing input, guidance and direction as requested.
  • Oversees and operationalizes Organizational Development department priorities and/or assigned projects.
  • Serves as an influential leader and resource for interprofessional learning, professional growth, and practice change throughout the organization.
  • Maintains necessary clinical competencies to support the training and service needs of the organization.
