Program and Role Summary: The primary focus of the Clinical Director is to work collaboratively with the Medical Director, who provides psychiatric leadership and serves as the highest-level medical authority for the programs. Together, these two positions form the leadership dyad for the IOP/PHP programs, ensuring integration of therapeutic and psychiatric services. The Clinical Director maintains primary responsibility for administrative operations, non-medical clinical staff supervision, and day-to-day program management, while the Medical Director focuses on psychiatric care, medication management, and medical oversight

Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field;
  • Licensed with the California Board of Psychology or Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Clinical Psychologist (PhD/PsyD), LMFT, or LCSW
  • Minimum 2 years of holding professional license.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the provision of clinical mental health direct services, including experience providing clinical supervision and administrative duties, preferably in an intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization setting;
  • Expert knowledge of adolescence, mental health and other co-occurring disorders

  • Certification (LACDMH or Behavioral Tech) in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, TFCBT, I/DD Mental Health

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development and implementation of goals, strategic initiatives, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters a sense of belonging and demonstrates a commitment to a work environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and included.
  • Develops and executes policies and procedures and a system of accountability that tracks the quality of service, program budget, relevant documentation, and adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for the development, oversight, and maintenance of the department’s budget.
  • Effectively supervises, evaluates and directs the work of a diverse group of employees. Timely completion of performance appraisals, regular supervisory meetings, performance documentation, staff development, and supervision for success best practices. Manages personnel functions including recruitment, hiring, retention, and discipline of staff.
  • Oversees and manages risk management and continuous quality improvement in assigned areas of responsibility. Promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
  • Monitor all program documentation of treatment plans and clinical notes for Utilization Review, coordinating with Medical Director on psychiatric documentation standards.
  • Audit client documentation weekly to confirm record-keeping system complies with all governmental regulations and standards.
  • Supervise maintenance of electronic medical records in compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards.
  • Research, plan, secure approval of, and implement new or enhanced program services in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  • Interview, hire, and retain non-medical clinical program staff by overseeing training and development.
