About The Position

Job Summary: Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training and nutrition intervention to patients/residents. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Commission on Dietetic Registration)
  • Must have Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CT Department of Public Health) within 90 days of hire.
  • RD eligible (Must achieve Registered Dietitian credential and request CDN within 90 days of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition or related field preferred.
  • One year of work experience in clinical nutrition preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the Code of Ethics for the Nutrition & Dietetic Professional as established by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND) and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Follows the guidelines according to the Nutrition Care Process as set forth by AND
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of departments (weekdays, weekends/evenings)
  • Able to travel to community locations as required for meetings and events
  • Serve as a lead in the development, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition-related educational plans for community members, outreach work plans, and other initiatives.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and ongoing assessment, and implementation of a comprehensive nutrition program. Involved in community outreach and educational events to increase overall service line knowledge and accessibility.
  • Development of nutritional materials for individuals and populations
  • Provides MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy) to patients, specific to their diagnosis with consideration of physical, financial, social, emotional needs, cultural, and lifestyle
  • Implements health programs with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion to individuals and groups.
  • Participates in health fair activities in the local community.
  • Meets one-on-one with community members.
  • Develops and secures culturally appropriate informational and educational materials, guides, brochures, etc.
  • Successfully handles all duties essential to the efficient operation of the department
