About The Position

The Clinical Coordinator, MSN NP, is responsible for helping to set up precepted clinical experiences for the nurse practitioner programs. These clinical experiences take place in a health care facility/organization under the supervision of an approved clinical preceptor from the health care organization. These experiences involve shadowing and/or working with an Advanced Practice Health Care Provider and involve direct patient/client care. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP acts as a liaison between the College and the health care organization. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP oversees students' precepted clinical experiences to confirm that all applicable American Sentinel policies and regulatory requirements are being met and that the student fulfills the requirements of the clinical experience for each course. ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB: The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP works with the health care facility/organization to identify and obtain appropriate practicum sites, identify and approve preceptors from the sites, obtain sites, student and preceptor affiliation agreements signed, and ensure smooth completion of precepted clinical hours by the American Sentinel student. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP works with the Program Chair, faculty, students, and representatives of health care facilities/organizations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
  • Unencumbered current Registered Nurse License.
  • Must also maintain all state licensure requirements for clinical coordinator as specified by state boards of nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • one years of clinical coordination experience in an academic setting, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate time management and apply concepts to practical situations.
  • Communication with Preceptors regarding Typhon and issues completing students’ evaluations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to students, public groups, or professional organizations.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.
  • Work effectively with legal issues, university policy and procedures and resolve issues in practicum settings.
  • Work independently with light supervision.
  • Proficient in working in an online environment with strong PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to obtain cooperation through effective interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and efficiently accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate efficient problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Organization of tracking documents for clinical placement, clinical exceptions, and student information each term.
  • Work in learning management systems to support students.
  • Set up authorization for APEA resources for students.
  • Posting routine announcements in the courses for the MSN NP.
  • Perform other duties, as needed.
