About The Position

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking to hire an MSN & DNP Academic Advisor. The MSN/DNP Academic Advisor assists students in making informed decisions about academic matters by providing advice on programs, registration, and related topic areas. The MSN/DNP Academic Advisor, working closely with the dean and faculty, will help to ensure that MSN and DNP students stay on track to graduate. This is a professional staff position within the division of nursing. The salary for this position is $45,300.32 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Requirements

  • Experience at a college or university within an academic advising or counseling setting
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and in groups
  • Ability to work as a productive team member
  • Knowledge and skill with technology including computer software programs for data collection, decision-making, and communication

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in counseling or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome new MSN and DNP students with an email and letter
  • Meet with MSN and DNP students to review transfer credits and establish an academic plan
  • Develop and implement a retention plan to include checkpoints along the way for each student so that we are ensuring their progress through the program
  • Following up with any student who experiences an issue/hardship/complaint/etc
  • Working with students to ensure all students adhere to division academic progression policies
  • Working with students to facilitate appeals process for course substitution and waiver requests or any policy appeals (i.e. GPA requirements)
  • Work with division dean and faculty to track students through their program of study
  • Data collection and Maine Street queries to identify trend data
  • Support nursing and psychology faculty in day-to-day business matters
  • Assist with documentation processing
  • Maintaining student files
  • Assist with event planning
  • Assist with division of nursing, allied health, and psychology budget management
  • Other duties as assigned
