The School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teaching (Clinical Faculty) in Japanese, to begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will normally teach four three-credit courses per semester. Teaching responsibilities will include various courses in Japanese-such as Japanese food culture, Japanese linguistics, advanced-level Japanese language, and courses related to the candidate's area of specialization-as well as courses in the College of Liberal Arts' Integrated Cornerstone First-Year Curriculum, which focuses on written and oral communication (e.g., SCLA 101, SCLA 102). In addition to teaching, service activities within SLC and the Japanese Program are expected, including participation in extracurricular events, community engagement, and program development or promotion. Additional special assignments related to program initiatives or community outreach may also be available. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This benefits-eligible position begins with a three-year renewable contract, with a promotion pathway to Associate and Full Professor of Teaching. A background check will be required for employment.
