About The Position

The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) reports to the IT Manager. The individual supports the clinic’s multi-service clinical software applications, i.e., Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and the Dentrix Dental Enterprises System. The duties involve Serving as the coordinator and support specialist for all RPMS clinical applications; consulting with the medical staff in customizing software, EHR reminders, meaningful use options and RPMS EHR templates; training individuals in the daily operation of the RPMS applications as well as how the application integrate with each other. Incumbent also works the clinic’s electronic health record systems and medical staff’s reporting requirement, including training medical staff in meaningful use and GPRA requirements. Individual must be able to work under pressure, multi-task, and work in a mutually supportive capacity in any areas needed to carry out job duties and functions and is self-motivated and resourceful.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical informatics, Nursing, Information Technology Application or Database Specialist, or related field; and two years of computer software and applications experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.
  • HIPAA and Privacy certificates required annually.
  • Individual must be vaccinated for COVID-19.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology.
  • Knowledge of clinic processes, patient care activities, the clinical environment and how the services and functions interact.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems, database structures, and basic Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) principals.
  • Knowledge of medical records procedures and protocols.
  • Participates in team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence and write and edit report text.
  • Requires strong human relations skills to work productively and cooperatively with other work teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts

  • Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to keep detailed records.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RPMS I.H.S. EHR, and Dentrix Dental Enterprises software or other health care related software applications preferred.
  • Experience with EHR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • RPMS and CAC specific classes/Webinars.
  • Develop, train and support clinicians and others thru design of RPMS EHR templates, RPMS EHR/Dentrix meaningful use and GPRA requirements and tailoring and use of the Indian Health Service Resource Patient and manage System packages and related systems.
  • Development and support of RPMS EHR clinical reminders and related application requirements.
  • Provide support for all RPMS packages and related clinical applications, including ongoing staff application training requirements.
  • Communicates with peers and supervisors, writes clinical system workflow related policies and procedures, manuals, and training materials
  • Performs clinical software application troubleshooting to diagnose system problems and data translation issues.
  • Research new rules and regulations to update compliance guidelines and procedures.
  • Assists in compilation of a variety of reports by gathering necessary information as needed.
  • Ensure that implementation and integration of the RPMS ensures the continuity of patient flow and achieves care objectives.
  • Collaborates with users and medical, dental, and technical staff to analyze problems and develop technical application solutions; evaluate processes related to information flow and make recommendations.
  • Develop a daily interface between clinicians/medical staff and the electronic record system.
  • Provides training to all CTHCA service areas on current software applications, new features and ensures training is scheduled for new users.
  • Acts as a resource in the best practices to view, review, extract the automated data.
  • Works with various CTHCA departments and their staff in the refining and evaluation of existing health-related software modules and programs.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages resolve conflicts provide secondary support on related software modules.
