Completes psychosocial clinical intake assessments connecting to resources/referrals within the area. Will serve as a member of the Access to Crisis Intervention team providing help to those who are at risk of harm to self or others. Will respond to direct crisis interventions on site with occasional community response as needed. Providing brief therapy and de-escalation skills is a central function of the job. Interpersonal skills able to relate to employees, physicians, law enforcement, social workers, juvenile officers, clients and/or other agencies involved in crisis care. Bachelor#s degree in a behavioral health field with two years of mental health experience required.#Reports to the Clinical Manager Completes Open Access clinical assessments, ensuring documentation meets quality and timeliness standards. Assigns DSM diagnoses and makes referrals best suited for the individual served. Receive calls from the community, schools, clients, guardians, and/or OZH staff by way of phone or walk-in requests. Conducts telephone or face to face interventions as appropriate using therapeutic skills. Offers information and brief solution-focused counseling when a person is facing a challenging situation, typically involving behavioral health issue. De-escalates volatile in-person situations, often times with little time for breaks in between. Assists with the coordination and completion of involuntary commitments as needed by people in the community often in tense/stressful situations Assigns next day urgent services for clients when appropriate, assists with coordinating hospitalization for clients when appropriate, or assists with connecting to other appropriate resources Completes risk assessment and follows crisis situations until total safety can be assured working with emergency personnel, family members, and or other supports Completes community outreach and/or education upon requests with schools, civic groups, colleges, and law enforcement agencies Rotates on-call after hours for backup if emergencies escalate requiring law enforcement assistance and help with access to the emergency room
