Serves as a front-line representative for the organization. Interviews patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data to access patients to clinical and financial systems of the hospital. Communicates health benefit regulations and patient financial obligation to responsible parties. Responsibilities include: verifies financial and insurance information, obtains appropriate pre-certification and authorization for referrals, collects, co-pays and makes referrals to appropriate financial resources. Maintains organization of appointment schedules, from appointment selections to check-in of patient for visit. Is responsible for all telephone communication into outpatient clinic. Functions as a team leader/coordinator for PASR I and II staff. Coaches, assigns work assists supervisor(s) with monitoring of employee’s productivity and quality of work. Serves as an additional facilitator and resource individual if supervisor is unavailable. Assists supervisor(s) with information and input into their team member’s productivity and conduct when evaluations come due. Must meet all Level I and II requirements of a PASR before promoting to this position or have equivalent experience. Assists managers with training new and existing staff. Can be relied upon to lead and train staff to do special projects. Help organize and maintain standards during system downtime.
