About The Position

East House is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. We provide comprehensive services, including residential support, counseling, peer support and community outreach to empower individuals to overcome mental health and substance use disorders and lead fulfilling lives. Our mission is to foster a supportive environment that promotes healing and long-term recovery. The Client Services Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day activities that ensure program compliance with regulatory guidelines as well as supports individuals with living independently in the community. This work ensures that housing is safe and healthy, apartment turnover is timely, property maintenance and improvements are adequate, inventory of furnishings is maintained and client goals are met.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with culturally diverse clients, staff and community service providers.
  • Ability to maintain professional practices, including confidentiality of financial, client and personnel information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct basic searches on the Intern, check his/her email account, create and send email with an attachment and use simple email features. Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
  • Basic Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.
  • NYS motor vehicle license, safe driving record and availability of personal vehicle for work.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Housing is Safe and Healthy
  • Conducts routine apartment inspections per program guidelines to ensure that housing is safe and healthy for the people we serve. Inspections may include:
  • Random weekly, bimonthly inspections,
  • Fire safety inspections
  • Move in or out inspection.
  • Staff consistently informs supervisor of issues identified.
  • Coordinates Apartment Turnover Activities
  • Coordinates activities related to apartment turnover to ensure apartments have been cleaned and prepared for new tenants.
  • Adequate housing is available in a timely manner to incoming clients,
  • Program and admission staff are satisfied that adequate housing is prepared for incoming/outgoing clients.
  • Assists individuals with tasks for move in/set up of housing and/or transition or move out.
  • Coordinates activities with program staff to ensure apartment are “move-in” ready when there is client turnover.
  • Furnishing and Maintenance of Apartments
  • Assists the Client Service Assistant II to develop and maintain an inventory of apartment furniture/ necessities.
  • Apartments are well maintained and have adequate furnishings within budget parameters,
  • Staff and clients are satisfied with the conditions of apartments,
  • Processes are streamlined to meet client and program needs.
  • Collaborates with East House programs to understand needs and develop processes that lead to property related efficiencies.
  • Services that Address Client Goals
  • Partners with identified client to achieve service plan goals with the scope of the program services (i.e. Assists with tasks for maintaining apartment, performs random toxicology screens, etc.).
  • Consistently responds appropriately to needs of residents that occur during on-duty shifts,
  • Documentation meets agency expectations..
  • Attends program community meetings.
  • Documents client-related activities.
  • Other Duties
  • Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions.
