About The Position

The Physician Services Clerk provides quality customer service to patients and performs functions delegated and assigned by the Office Manager. This role supports front office operations, patient scheduling, medical records coordination, and financial transactions while ensuring a positive patient experience. Meadowview Regional Medical Center is a 100-bed, acute care, Joint Commission accredited facility named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the country five times in the past decade. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle stress in a positive manner

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree preferred
• Knowledge and experience with computers, coding, and medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Carries out front office activities in a kind and courteous manner
• Assists customers and their families effectively
• Notifies Office Manager of customer complaints in a timely manner
• Gathers and updates patient demographic information in the system
• Communicates delays and offers alternatives to waiting patients
• Manages telephone communication and documents messages
• Coordinates EMR/medical record activities
• Collects and posts payments while ensuring security of funds
• Schedules patients and manages appointment flow
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains prior authorizations
• Reviews patient accounts and collects balances due
• Performs appointment reminder calls
• Completes required in-services and training
• Participates in patient satisfaction improvement initiatives
• Makes referrals to other medical team members as needed
