Under general supervision, provides on-scene crisis intervention, advocacy, and assistance to victims, witnesses, and survivors of criminal or non-criminal incidents. Reads and interprets police reports; maintains statistical data for grant reporting; and prepares reports documenting casework. Responsible for initial and follow-up contact with victims, victims’ family members, and/or witnesses; assists individuals in understanding and coping with their situations; and coordinates communication with pertinent parties such as friends, family, health care professionals, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and service providers. Makes appropriate referrals to community-based resources/services, provides emergency support services (including safety planning), and serves as a liaison between victims/witnesses and the criminal justice system. Note: This position is grant funded and is expected to last two or more years.
