About The Position

We have an opening for a Class A Yard Driver at Ryder in Hampstead MD. This role offers consistent freight, weekly pay of $1000 (or $25.06 per hour with overtime after 40 hours), and a schedule of Wednesday - Sunday, starting at 7 AM. Drivers work approximately 40-45 hours per week and receive paid training. Ryder provides trucks that are three years or newer, and drivers service the route, not the truck, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling services at over 800 facilities. The position involves solo delivery to a yard, local home daily routes, using a Day Cab or Yard Tractor and Dry Van trailers, handling no-touch freight (moving trailers). Ryder emphasizes driver safety, security, and transparency, offering a reliable fleet and various employee discounts. The company also has stringent cleaning processes and provides personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• Safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads
• Compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service
• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Maintaining accurate move and yard inventory records
• Other tasks as assigned
