Work Environment: Standard Office Environment Special Physical Requirements: None Travel: Less than 10% of the time Claims Processing & Analysis: Efficiently manage a high volume of claims by meticulously reviewing and analyzing tax claims to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Process claims promptly, ensuring timely resolution and thorough documentation in accordance with department standard operating procedures. Conduct thorough research on tax laws to validate claim outcomes and communicate findings effectively Client & Field Inquiry Resolution: Promptly address and resolve field and client inquiries regarding claim disputes, demonstrating both empathy and confidence in the accuracy of claim determinations. Ensures that all communications are handled with professionalism and clarity, fostering trust and satisfaction among clients Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with field teams, legal, software, and training teams to resolve escalated issues efficiently. Provide insightful suggestions and trainings to enhance processes, reduce client claims, and improve the overall client experience Peer Claim Review: Conduct peer claim reviews to ensure the quality and accuracy of claims. Provide constructive suggestions and guidance as needed to maintain consistent quality throughout the claims process. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and adherence to best practices Claims Monitoring: Track pending claims and coordinate with field associates and management to ensure timely submission and processing in accordance with service level agreements and standard operating procedures Phone System Management: Ensure timely login to the phone system at the beginning of each day and maintain availability as needed to support the department. Assist with questions and provide claim guidance, ensuring efficient and effective communication. Uphold a high standard of responsiveness to meet departmental needs and enhance overall service quality Continuing Education: Maintain annual continuing education requirements as specified by H&R Block for both Tax and Adjuster. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and enhance professional expertise Flexibility and Support: Demonstrate flexibility by taking on additional tasks as needed to support the department's success. Maintain a client-focused approach, ensuring that all actions contribute to enhancing the overall client experience and achieving departmental goals. This may include assisting in or preparing amended returns to aide in processing claims timely Certification Requirement: The Claims Tax Analyst must be willing to pursue and obtain certification as a claims adjuster when necessary. This certification is essential to assist with the second review of claims, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards

Requirements

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and correctly formulate solutions to highly complex tax situations (both personal and business)
  • Ability to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis and evaluation of alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively research complex tax issues and effectively communicate findings
  • Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures, and techniques
  • 3 years minimum related work experience as a tax professional
  • Operational knowledge of tax law and regulations sufficient to understand and explain elements of personal, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, gift, and international taxation
  • Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Writing skills to explain complex tax information in a clear manner and in plain language

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working as a Tax Professional
  • Experience completing both personal and entity type returns (S-Corp, Partnerships, Trusts, C-Corp)
  • Enrolled Agent, Certified Public Accountant or Attorney status (credentials regulated under Circular 230) a plus
  • Knowledge of Federal and State tax administration to include litigation, tax compliance, and auditing
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is helpful but not required
