About The Position

The Claims Recovery Assistant supports the identification, analysis, and recovery of healthcare claim overpayments. This role reviews claims data, validates payment discrepancies, prepares recovery documentation, and assists with provider and health plan communications. The assistant ensures accurate tracking of recoveries, maintains detailed records, and supports compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements while meeting established timelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Independent worker: can follow instructions without a lot of oversight
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Easily adapt to frequent changes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EZCAP a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Contact providers in response to verbal inquiries to provide overpayment explanations and research additional information needed to complete recovery process
  • Respond to written provider correspondence related to recovery efforts
  • Coordinate with Eligibility Department for member eligibility verification
  • Enter and/or update recovery tracking logs tied to claims systems
  • Print and mail overpayment notification letters
  • Notify Credentialing department of Provider/Vendor updates
  • Data entry including collecting and entering data in databases to maintain accurate records of all refund payments received by the responsible payors
  • Other duties as assigned
