Claims Internship Objective The intern will obtain practical work experience through observing and performing technical responsibilities. You will also learn why #CIGIsThePlaceToBe!
Through this internship, an intern will: Learn about the property/casualty insurance world. Work as a team and learn more about team dynamics. This is a 24 hour per week (3 or 4 days M-F) summer position, lasting approximately 8 weeks. This internship will be located in Columbia, MO.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in degree program going into Sophomore, Junior or Senior year preferably pursuing a degree in business, finance, human resources, insurance or risk management.
• Must have demonstrated customer service skills and experience working within a team.
• Computer proficiency for correspondence, data entry, e-mail, Internet, Microsoft Office 2010 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Analysis. Review claim data to assist the offices. For example, identify open claims with no activity for more than 60 days. Identify open suit files with no expense payment for 30 days.
• Mapping. Assist in mapping the functions of the Claims Department for new Claims system.
• Compliance. Review open first party claims to make sure compliance letters sent. Review TL files for compliance.
• Claims Handling. Work first party claims with supervision. These would be closely monitored.
• Customer Feedback. Phone calls to customers to survey and record how their claim was handled.
