About The Position

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join a team as an Employment Practices Liability (EPL) Claims Specialist . This role involves the handling, oversight, and overall management of EPL claims, with the opportunity to work on private company Director and Officer claims or other professional liability claims. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in claims-made and reported policy coverages, as well as strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Compensation Package Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 (actual salary determined by factors such as role complexity, candidate qualifications, and location).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Juris Doctorate is a plus).
  • 2-4 years of professional liability claims experience, with a strong background in EPL claims and/or other professional liability lines.
  • Advanced technical and product-specific expertise, as well as knowledge of insurance claims principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to analyze claim facts, implement strategies aligned with business goals, and evaluate claims based on cost-benefit analysis.
  • Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Adaptability to ambiguous situations and changing circumstances.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing complex investigations of management liability claims, including coverage issues, liability, compensability, and damages.
  • Determining appropriate resolution strategies, including settlement or litigation, while effectively managing loss costs and claim expenses.
  • Overseeing investigative activities and litigation, including timely posting of reserves and coordinating discovery and litigation strategies with panel attorneys or insured counsel.
  • Negotiating settlement packages through mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Drafting concise and well-written large loss reports for senior management and making recommendations on claims processes and resolution strategies.
  • Preparing and presenting claims to management, internal business partners, and clients.
  • Demonstrating strong knowledge of state, federal, and local employment laws, business corporation laws, and litigation.
  • Collaborating with attorneys, account representatives, agents, and insureds to handle and resolve claims of varying complexity.
